I finished reading this book by Steven Rosen about a week ago.
I selected it because a lot of the material is gathered from interviews and quotes from Bill Ward. Even though Bill's recollection from that time was a bit hazy, I felt this book would still be a good source of info on the band's history.
I did a bit of research prior to selecting the book by reading the reviews. Reviews were mediocre. Regardless, I went ahead and picked it up. I thought it was ok.
The book covers from the group's roots as Earth and covers the albums Black Sabbath through to Forbidden. It contains information about the musical direction of each album, the instruments, the songs, the drug use, the Ozzy break-up and return, Dio's run with the band and his bitter departure, the personnel changes, and a lot of personal accounts of frustration.
It has about 10 photos, including a nice one of Ozzy wearing a white fringed outfit, discography, singles, and album release dates.
Has anybody read the revised version release from 2002?
